Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha Chanel.
Chanel Moore is a women’s wear line consisting of Swim Wear and Carnival Costumes that started in 2016. Chanel Moore is ran by 24 yr old Fashion Student, Samantha Chanel, which is where the brand got its name “Chanel Moore”. The brand originally started with bodycon dresses and sexy evening wear a few years ago but over time it evolved into something much different.
Samantha comes from a West Indian background and enjoys events such as Carnival so costume design has always been an interest of hers. It keeps her connected to the West Indian culture and constantly creating. This is why in 2017 the brand did a complete 360 and Samantha began steering her designs towards costume design such as the infamous Wire Bra and Swim Wear.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not always been a smooth road, I wish I could say it was. Some struggles would be finding my niche or what type of design I loved. It took me sewing different things and styles to settle on costume and swim. Another struggle would be doing it all alone. I literally run everything on my own which has its positives and negatives at times.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I would say my family and friends have been awesome. From my friend’s modeling to my sister doing makeup for shoots my Uncle as my photographer and even the family who has purchased items they have been amazing! They are very encouraging and I am super thankful. They have never told me once not to pursue this.
