Meet Ryan Howard of Stronger with Ryan in Newton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Howard.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am a personal trainer based out of Newton, Massachusetts. I have always had a passion for fitness which started when I was a young boy diagnosed with a disease called ADEM (Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis), which is a rare autoimmune disease marked by a sudden, widespread attack of inflammation in the brain and spinal cord.

The disease paralyzed the right side of my body, I couldn’t walk, talk or eat without assistance. I had to relearn everything that was once an easy task for me. I worked day and night for over a year to regain my strength, both mentally and physically. Once that was complete I told myself that I would never allow myself to become that weak again and I started my path to fitness excellence.

My fitness career started five years ago, when I was a lifeguard I had the opportunity to start teaching swimming lessons to children and from there teaching water aerobics to seniors looking to stay active. That opportunity allowed me to see the fitness world in a whole new light. I began to develop a real connection with all of my clients and that’s when I knew I was in a field that suited me very well.

From there I took a job working for Boston Sports club, and currently Lifetime in Chestnut Hill which has allowed me to pass on my knowledge of fitness to all who were willing to take the next steps in order to achieve their fitness goals. I have worked with clients of all age groups, fitness levels, and all fitness goals. The most rewarding part about being a trainer is seeing the look on my clients’ faces when they accomplish something that they never knew was possible.

Has it been a smooth road?
The biggest struggle for me along the way has been being able to portray to my clients that the struggle is worth the outcome.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Stronger with Ryan – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
My business goal is to provide fitness to everyone even if you can’t make it to the gym, I will come to you.
