Meet Roscoe Curry of Rossthephotoboss Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Roscoe Curry.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My photography journey started shortly after being very unhappy with several jobs that I had taken and quit over the course of 3 or so years. I had always been an artist having had rapped, played the drums, a little drawing, creating figures by hand, and I also had been in a step group for a while but I never considered making money from anything artistically.

So finally I came to photography and it started kind of as a slight interest, that interest led me to purchase my first DSLR in November of 2015 and since then my passion, and sometimes obsession has grown every day.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, it has not been smooth at all but I somehow have grown to love all of the falls and bumps in the road. I see them as lessons no matter the outcome. I get better with every experience they are all wins in my opinion. One of the biggest was being fired from a recent job I was working while still pursuing my career as a photographer.

I was in a bad place, pretty stressed and I had also caught a mild cold. So I called out. I took that day off and went to take photos and just spend time with myself. It was very helpful but the company I was working for was not happy. They fired me the next day and gave me two weeks of pay. Looking back I think it was the best thing to ever happen to me.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Rossthephotoboss Photography – what should we know?
My business is a premium photography service. I take photos of everything and I really strive to be skilled in every area of photography. So I pride myself on being versatile, dependable, and the best both in the studio and in a natural light setting. I believe I am known most for my portrait photography work. To be specific my beauty, fashion and glamour photography.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Number 1 is my clients. I am still a new photographer. I am skilled and experienced but I am still new. I haven’t been doing this as long as some others so thankfully I have had clients that take the chance on me based on the work they’ve seen.

After that, I would have to say my support system is amazing. My mom is always in my corner no matter what, I could tell her I want world domination tomorrow and she’d probably very hesitantly encourage me to push for it. My immediate family and a small group of close friends are amazing as well. They care about me and understand me which can sometimes be difficult on a deeper level.
