Thanks for sharing your story with us Robert. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My story dates back to 1983 when a homeowner asked me if I wanted to manage 1 unit in a 2 family home in Brighton. From then, I started to invest in real estate and manage condominium and apartment complexes. Soon, I was managing a 54 unit building in Brighton, which led to several other buildings in the surrounding area and a partnership with one of the largest condo developers and converters in the city. During that period, I started to receive calls from single-family homeowners to inquire whether I could help them with certain maintenance tasks.
In 1999, I started to formulate the idea of Home Maintenance Organization based on the ever-growing demand for management and maintenance of single-family homes in the Greater Boston area.
In 2000, we filed the paperwork with the state to operate Home Maintenance Organization (HMO) as an entity. Since its inception, we’ve grown to be the largest provider of single family home management in Eastern Massachusetts and have current plans to expand nationally.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Operating any business commands a lot of your attention and resources. Mistakes are always made, but we look at those mistakes as opportunities to learn and improve.

What were you like growing up?
When I was 8, I had my first job selling newspapers and working at a convenience store in Kenmore Square. I would take the T by myself to bring the milk in and put together the newspaper. I also liked to play sports and act in the school plays. When I was 9, my family was on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson to show off our singing dog.
