Meet Rivkah Roman and Kaz Hardy of Rivkah’s Hair Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rivkah Roma and Kaz Hardy.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Rivkah and Kaz. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
It’s all about the ” journey”, not the “destination” right… and so I go…

After extensive travel, living on 3 continent’s and raising 4 children on my own, working at 3 other salons and helping them grow while training other stylists. I knew, it was time to open my own place… and from there, Rivkah’s Hair Studio was created.

My love of people and various cultures helped mold my business mission. I wanted to create an atmosphere where you felt at home in your living room while receiving a professional service without the pretense that’s most visible and typical at other high-end salons. My mission was everyone had to “win” the client, stylist, and business~ and in keeping sight of this, we have now grown to celebrate our 9th Year in business. 🙂

My children have always been my motivation, never was their room for failure! I wanted them to really know, if I can do it… you can too. My parents or theirs before them were never entrepreneurs so I had to break the mold. Am proud to say that my son Kaz works with me at the studio became licensed in cosmetology and is also creating and being groomed to one day take over the business.

The fear I had in the beginning almost kept me paralyzed in my thoughts, until going to the Center For Woman and Enterprise- there is where I created my brand, target market and honed in on my product that I was going to introduce to my community.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My goal is to have 5 full time working stylists within the next 3 years. There is currently 3 of us. With our working standards and pricing at the studio, finding and grooming the next team member has been challenging…

Please tell us about Rivkah’s Hair Studio.
When creating the studio I wanted to focus only on what I do best, and that is hair color and hair cutting. That is what we are known for. We do not do perms, mani/pedi or waxing… with the exception of the complimentary brow wax that comes with any color service.

Creative color and cuts, specialized to accentuate a client’s facial features and lifestyle. Our consultations are power mount to our success as well. For an initial client, 15 minutes are used going over pictures, color swatches and learning about our client, which intern helps us create a roadmap of what’s to come. As a professional, we advise and help create the best scenario.

Am most proud of not only delivering a great service and products, (that had to fit a high order just to get the shelves) that are great for the client and the environment, yet high performing… but most of all, creating a space for people no matter if they are judges, lawyers, doctors, beekeepers, students, stay at home moms or dads and the list goes on… to feel special, valued, and creating custom designs, all the while not giving the “thumbs up or down” the minute they walk through the door. Once you arrive, it’s all about the client.

We take 3-5 trainings a year to stay current and on trend. Last year as a team, we traveled to London for color and cutting classes.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Going to Puerto Rico with my grandmother. I can remember visiting family, the mountains, the winding roads and all the happy people that made me feel so special.
