Meet Richard Lucente of Brighton Auto Service in Brighton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Richard Lucente.

Richard, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I basically started repairing anything with a motor (small engine repair, and some car stuff) at around age 13 and by 18 was full time self-employed technician working in the Allston/Brighton area. When the opportunity came about to purchase Brighton Auto, the timing and circumstances couldn’t have been better. That being said. The rest is History.

Has it been a smooth road?
Everything has challenges and this type of business has plenty. Fortunately, Brighton Auto had 3 full time techs when I arrived as the new owner 17 yrs. ago. One has since retired and the other two have been with the shop for 20yrs and 30yrs respectively. That’s included 17yrs with myself. One of the biggest challenges is finding qualified auto techs. One of our techs left us about a year ago and I managed to find/hire 2 qualified techs to replace him. Both have been in the business over 25yrs and are also friends that were looking for a change, so everything worked out.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Brighton Auto Service – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
At Brighton Auto, we proudly service 90 percent of all cars, suv’s .pickup trucks {up to 1 ton}, cross overs and some hybrids. Our services include everything from Factory scheduled maintenance, diagnostics, suspensions, tire sales, plus much more. For example some customers require bodywork or glass replacement, inspection stickers, sometimes vehicles are covered under a recall or extended warranty, the guys at the shop will assist, make calls, etc to get the job done. That’s how we operate here. Brighton Auto is a certified independent Napa Service Center as well as an AC Delco Service Center. Our location is in a very convenient Brighton Center location also on the T green line.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I was born and raised 2 streets from the shop. I can honestly say the area has changed quite a bit. Brighton is a very busy area .There is a lot of new construction and traffic can be a challenge at times but on the flip side I still see a good mix of family’s, students, elderly. I believe parking and traffic are the biggest challenges in the city.
