Rich, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My journey began thirteen years ago when I decided I had had enough of corporate America and I wanted to take my love for dogs and turn it into a business I could be proud of, My parents laughed when I told them I wanted to walk dogs professionally. I told them just wait and see what I can do, and now after growing my business to ten walkers and seventy to a hundred walks daily, my parent are no longer laughing, they are believers.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I am the type of person that when I decide to do something I move forward and I don’t let obstacles get in my way.

What sets us apart from our competitors is we are fully insured and bonded and Gentle Leaders has always operated with the motto we treat your pet as if they were our own. Although we specialize in dog walking we also offer care for pretty much any pet imaginable. Our pet sitting program has become more and more popular as the years have passed. We offer both in home pet sitting and boarding for our clients that travel often for work or just want to go on a vacation.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
The only thing I think I would have changed is I would have started my business in Boston Proper as there is just usually more disposable income with people living in the city.
Pricing:
- We offer twenty minutes walk for the cost of $14 for a single dog and $22 for two dogs
- Our in home pet sitting or boarding is $50 per night for a single dog or $65 per night for two dogs, this includes all your walks and feedings.
- Cat care is $15 per day unlimted cats. This service includes daily feedings, fresh water. litter box cleang and play time
