Today we’d like to introduce you to Renata Roddy.
Renata, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My journey began in 2010 when I graduated from Umass Boston with my BSN. I started working in Obstetrics at MGH and loved every minute of it. A couple of years went by and I found myself wanting more. So I started my master’s degree to become a Nurse Practitioner in 2012 at Boston College, while simultaneously enrolling myself in a pageant, Miss MA USA. That year I was 2nd runner-up at Miss MA, and that fired me up to compete again the following year.
In 2013, I was 1st runner-up and aged out of the USA system. Seeing as I was so close, I went to the next best thing, competing in Miss MA United States. I won the title of Miss MA United States in 2014. My pageant experience made me fall in love with aesthetics, and that’s when I realized I could combine my love of nursing and the beauty industry all in one.
In 2016 I graduated Boston College with my master’s degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner. I began working in a primary care office and on the side got certified and trained in botox, dermal fillers, and skin care. I was trained by board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Joseph Russo. In October of 2017, my dreams came to fruition when I launched Roddy MedSpa.
Today, I help men and women of all ages feel more confident by loving the way they look. The former Boston College graduate, worked as an OB Nurse at Mass General while completing her Masters as a Nurse Practitioner. Immediately following graduation she began working as a family nurse practitioner for an outpatient clinic while pursuing her ultimate dream of aesthetics. Renata competed in fitness competitions and pageants, where she won the title of Miss Massachusetts United States 2014. These experiences allowed her to create a balanced and practical approach to aesthetics.
Has it been a smooth road?
It hasn’t always been easy and still isn’t. Establishing the business, marketing your work, and working in a field of serving others can be challenging, but also very rewarding.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Roddy MedSpa promises to deliver rejuvenating care. We offer Botox, dermal fillers, skin peels, dermal planing, and a comprehensive skincare regimen based on your skin type. Botox is used to treat fine lines and wrinkles such as commonly known crows feet, forehead lines, and “elevens” (lines in between your eyebrows). Dermal fillers are used to restore volumes, such as lip enhancement, cheeks, and smile lines.
Skin peels are great for smoothing out the texture of the skin, fine lines, and uneven pigmentation. Dermaplaning is used to physically exfoliate the skin, removing vellus hair (peach fuzz), thus removing dead skin cells and giving you brighter, smoother, glowing skin. I am most proud of providing exceptional patient care and delivering consistent results. Being fluent in both Portuguese and Spanish sets us apart from others, as it gives me the ability to connect with a variety of patients by speaking with them in their own language.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
What I love about Boston is our melting pot nature. Boston is filled with different cultures, ethnicities, and backgrounds. This gives businesses like mine many opportunities to connect with a variety of people. For someone who is just starting out, I would definitely recommend Boston as a good starting point. There is so much variety in our culture, which creates a plethora of opportunities.
Pricing:
- Botox is $13/unit
- Skin Peels start at $150
