Meet ReBecca Savard of Fish Works

Today we’d like to introduce you to ReBecca Savard.

ReBecca, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
In 1990 while working in a pet store, I realized the need to be able to see people’s fish tanks in their location and Fish Works was born. From there I started going to homes and offices to access their tanks which turned into maintaining their tanks for them. Since then we have moved onto customized aquariums which we design and install. We work with architects and contractors as well as the clients to design the best fit for the location. We currently maintain over 300 tanks every month in many well-known locations from 10 gallons up to 500 gallons.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There have been many ups and downs over the 27 years in business. We deal with living creatures that have their own personalities and often need very specialized conditions. Unlike many industries we have to provide 24/7 emergency service to keep the fish alive if there is a problem.

Please tell us about Fish Works.
I currently have 6 vans on the road to meet all of our clients’ needs. We maintain all types of tanks from freshwater to salt water up to living reefs. We have always provided extremely reliable professional service with long time staff members. We offer flexible cleaning programs to meet clients’ needs and still have many clients from when we started in 1990. We cover most of MA as well as bordering RI tanks. We drive to each location and perform all the maintenance needed to keep the fish and the tanks clean and healthy so the client can enjoy the aquarium. We make the systems as automated as possible so the clients can just sit back and enjoy their relaxing aquarium.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
About the only thing I could have done sooner was getting to know the manufacturers early on to have easier access to products and custom made products early in the business.
