Meet Rachel Reider Interiors Inc. in South End

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Reider.

Rachel, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started my career as a creative at a Boston advertising agency. While traveling in Thailand I found myself mesmerized by the color of the silk fabrics and local artisans. When I came back, I enrolled at The New England School of Art and Design and worked for two prominent design firms before starting Rachel Reider Interiors in 2006. Over the last 12 years our business has grown from a sole proprietor working out of my living room doing paint consultations to a five-person team headquartered in the South End. Our projects span both residential and commercial design; ranging from a full house renovation to a hotel redesign. I love that every day is different, taking us from the mountains to the sea and most places in-between!

Has it been a smooth road?
While growth comes with challenges for the most part I feel very fortunate about our path. Rachel Reider Interiors has grown to encompass so much more than I ever imagined. I started the business focused on residential design but after a chance encounter at an inn in Maine, found an unexpected niche in boutique hotel design. I had to quickly grow our firm to be able to handle both our residential and hotel clients which was a big leap but I’m so glad I did!

Currently my biggest challenge is trying to find an equilibrium between work and home. As my business has grown, so has my family. I feel very fortunate to have a great team supporting me, so I can be both designer and mom!

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Rachel Reider Interiors was born out of a love for the creative design process, mixing colors, textures, and unexpected details for artfully layered interiors. With projects ranging from homes to hotels, from the sea to the slopes, our business is based on the simple idea that the best interiors reflect their residents. But our work is anything but simple. With thoughtful input from our clients, we drive the complex design process from beginning to end, whether starting from a blank slate or overseeing a major renovation.

We have earned some notable accolades for our work over the years, but our most important achievement is the long-term relationship we develop with each client based on our enthusiasm for creating beautiful and enduring interiors that really speak to their lifestyle.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I love that Boston has the resources of a major city without a big city feel. We have an engaged design community which encourages each other rather than creating a cut throat environment.
