Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Mailhiot.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My journey as a stylist began when I was in high school. I loved doing hair and makeup for my friends as well as myself. When I was a senior in high school I wasn’t sure what my plan was and my mom actually suggested it to me so we checked it out. 2 months after I graduated I started and have been doing it now for almost 8 years. I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing worth having comes easy. That’s what my parents always told me and they were right. I’ve faced many obstacles on my journey as a stylist but I kept going. There’s a lot of aspects to being a good stylist and building a business and unfortunately, the only way to learn is to fall down and get back up again. Whether it’s finding the right salon, handling an unhappy client or starting over again.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Hair by Rachel Mailhiot – what should we know?
I am currently a hairstylist/booth renter at eyes on me beauty in Winthrop. I do everything from color, men & women’s cuts, bridal hair & styling and extensions. I specialize in color, as well as blondes.

I absolutely love the coloring and every aspect of it. I would say this is what I’m most proud of. All stylists have different skill sets and talents and I feel as though coloring blondes are what sets me apart.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Perseverance and determination are most essential to me when it comes to my success.

Reaching my goals and achieving my dreams is what truly important to me. I always want to keep growing as a stylist as well as a person.
