Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Bombard.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Sarah. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have wanted to be a hairstylist and makeup artist as long as I can remember. There was never a question. After my training in cosmetology and esthetics I was fortunate to be an apprentice to a brilliant salon owner. He took me under his wing and taught me just about everything I know. He was extremely focused on the customer experience. Because of his teachings I have always done everything in my career with how the customer will feel in mind. After my own wedding in 2007, I fell in love with the whole wedding industry and dove head first into the wedding business. In 2008, I partnered with another makeup artist. In 2009 I took over the business and Premiere Makeup & Hair was born. I haven’t looked back since.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Business, as does life, has its ups and downs. I have been so fortunate to have met some incredible people and brides along my business journey that, for the most part, has made my business thrive in a somewhat smooth and easy way. My brides have provided such amazing feedback and given me referrals and have made it possible for me to continue growing. I started and grew my business in the Washington, DC area. In 2016, my husband, son and I moved to New England to be closer to our families. Moving a business has had its challenges. I had to restructure the way I do everything and essentially start over. In the short time I’ve been in the area I’ve been able to form relationships in the industry and have been very happy with how Premiere Makeup & Hair has landed and look forward to all that is to come.
Please tell us about Premiere Makeup & Hair.
My company provides on-site Hair and Makeup services. I specialize in wedding hair and makeup services but will provide services for any and all of your hair and makeup needs. I love doing hair and makeup for photoshoots as well. Engagement shoots, family portraits, boudoir portraits professional/business headshots, you name it! I provide blow outs, updos, braiding, airbrush makeup, traditional makeup and eyelash applications. I am proud to say Premiere Makeup & Hair has won the WeddingWire.com Couple’s Choice award 9 years in a row because of the outstanding reviews my past brides have provided. As your personal hair and makeup stylist it is my goal to listen intently to what you are looking for. It is important for my client to feel like the best version of themselves. The whole experience when they are in my chair is what I am focused on. Their wedding day is one of the most important days of their life. It is my goal to make they’re time with me as stress-free and as fun as possible. They’ll look back on their wedding photos for years to come and I want them to feel like they looked like themselves in the best way.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I am the youngest of 4. When I was 6 years old my parents planned an 8 weeklong vacation where we all piled in a minivan and drove to as many states as we could. We had many activities planned along the way and visited with our family in various states throughout the journey. I have traveled to 42 out of 50 states. How cool is that?! My siblings are my best friends and my childhood was full of laughter and adventure. I look forward to planning a similar trip with my son in the future (although I bet my mom has a little bit different memory of the experience being on the other side).
