Meet Sarin Tin of Phnom Penh Sandwiches Station

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarin Tin.

Sarin, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have always had a love for family and cooking. I have found food is a great way to bring people together. Growing up in Cambodia, my family used to have picnics as a way to bring us closer. Those picnics are some of my best childhood memories. When I moved to Lebanon, I saw families and friends on the Lebanon Green sharing laughter and entertainment together and it brought back those good memories. I thought I could make a great contribution to that Lebanon Green experience with tasty, fresh food for all families and friends to share. After discussing with my family, in 2015 we start selling food at the Hanover farmers market. Since a lot of people seemed to love our food, we thought we could open a food truck. After a hard work and saving that same year, we established a food truck so everyone in Hanover and Lebanon could try our country food. In the truck, we served Lebanon at lunch time and Hanover at dinner time, but only the summer months. Now I think it’s time to have a permanent location where our food lover can come and enjoy our food all year round.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Starting new business is never a smooth road. There are a lot of stuff that I don’t know about and have to do some research. Such as what are the steps to start a restaurant? What should I do first? There are all kinds of struggle along the way. From the construction to dealing with the town and state for the permit.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Phnom Penh Sandwiches Station – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
The restaurant opened on 11/15/16. One week after the food truck was close. We are specialized in sandwiches. There are 6 different kinds of meat choice to choose to go in to the sandwiches.

– Coconut Jumpbo Shrimp
– Lemongrass Beef
– Ginger Garlic Pork
– Curry Chicken
– Teriyaki Chicken
– Spicy Sesame Tofu

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Future plan is to have a sit down restaurant. Our restaurant now is take out only. It is small space and we don’t have public bathroom, so the town would not let us put a table and chairs in the shop.
