Meet Phil Castinetti and Scott Prusak of Sportsworld in North Shore

Today we’d like to introduce you to Phil Castinetti and Scott Prusak.

Phil and Scott, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was a collector as a child. Turned the collecting into a business in 1986. Making connections with players over the years as well as accumulating customers over the same time period.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It had its up and downs over the years. It is a constantly evolving business with swings in trends of collecting cards and memorabilia. With the success of Boston teams mainly the Patriots that has helped drive the business every year.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Sportsworld – what should we know?
We sell all kinds of memorabilia both Boston and other markets. We buy, sell and trade memorabilia. We also have athletes do autograph appearances here and set up athletes for corporate events. We are a leader in autograph authentication. We are known for the wide variety of rare one of a kind memorabilia. Making a trip to Sportsworld brings you back to your childhood and memories of your favorite teams and players. You could spend hours getting lost in the wide selection of memorabilia it is a museum of memorabilia from the past and present! As memorabilia stores have went away over the years we have grown to be New England’s largest sports memorabilia store over the past 31 years.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Killer Kowalski who was a professional wrestler when I started. Kowalski was instrumental in getting other wrestlers to make appearances at the Everett Square location growing my customer base. Former 2x Stanley Cup Champion Dave Reid was instrumental in getting hockey players to make store appearances. Sib Hashian former drummer of the rock band Boston also helped keep inventory organized and help with his connections in the music business. Over the last 3 years Scott Prusak who was a customer going back 30 years to my first store located across from the old Everett High School has helped bring his retail mgmt. experience to keep a neat, clean and organized store. Also has helped develop a top notch website and auction site as well as streamline business procedures www.sportsworld-usa.com is our website visit it and check us out!
