Meet Peter and Despina Sarianides of Theia Brands in Quincy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Peter and Despina Sarianides.

Peter and Despina, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
The Spreadable Feta Story truly began in Chef Georgia’s own home kitchen. With the publication of her own cookbooks, Chef Georgia’s recipes have taken us from her small kitchen in New England to Food Festivals up and down the east coast, where her cookbooks and recipes could be widely shared and tasted by the food-loving public. Spreadable Feta was a product of this journey.

Miami’s South Beach Food Network Food and Wine Festival provided the backdrop for our spreadable feta cheese, which was initially created out of convenience. Chef Georgia needed a product that was simple to prepare and transport, as well as easy to distribute to fans at food demonstrations.

As more people tried Chef Georgia’s new practical feta, we were repeatedly asked, “Where can we find this product??” We heard this question over and over again, from scores of the 25,000+ consumers who had the chance to try Chef Georgia’s spreadable feta in South Beach. After a key food show in Atlantic City, where we ran out of our samples and sold homemade tubs of the feta on the fly – we finally knew we needed to do something more.

After several years of gathering feedback from consumers and industry specialists, we made the decision to launch this next generation of feta to the retail markets for all to enjoy. Theia brings to you the next generation of healthy culinary creations, all inspired by Chef Georgia and our Greek heritage. Theia’s Spreadable Feta is just the beginning!

Has it been a smooth road?
As with any endeavor, there have been a few bumps in the road. From securing financial backing to testing and sampling the product, it has been a long road to this point. However, we could not be happier with where we are as a company and we look forward to expanding our brand and producing the highest quality products on the market.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Theia Brands story. Tell us more about the business.
Theia Brands developed and distributes spreadable feta. We began the spreadable feta revolution as we call it in 2016. We specialize in a variety of feta spread flavors. From Mediterranean to Roasted Red Pepper, we offer flavors that will appeal to any palate. The one thing we are most proud of is the customer response to our products. Customers love our spreads. They are a healthy alternative to traditional spreads and dips and they are tasty too. What sets us apart is the quality of our product. We use all natural ingredients and every container of our feta spread tastes like it was just made in our mother’s kitchen.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Our goal is to set the bar for a healthier, cleaner lifestyle. Our products are made with fresh, natural ingredients. We believe that our customers deserve a product that they can enjoy and feel good about serving to their families. At Theia, we think that Mediterranean cooking and the Mediterranean lifestyle are the wave of the future. Studies have shown that people in Southern Europe, specifically in Greece live longer, healthier lives. That is because they eat all natural foods we no added preservatives or chemicals. We hope through our products and our brand to promote that lifestyle here.
