Meet Peter and Steve Bucci of D.A.Bucci & Sons in Stoneham

Today we’d like to introduce you to Peter and Steve Bucci.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Peter, Steve. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Our grandfather came to this country from Italy, at first he worked as a carpenter in a paint factory, and eventually the depression started out of work he began a knife sharpening service going place to place sharpening knives, competition soon set in forcing him to begin the rental program that still exists today. Our father Anthony [Tony] joined him, along with his two other brothers so the journey continued. We are proud to say my brother Steve & I are third generation and are continuing the family business, and my son Peter jr. 4th generation is also along for the ride.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
For the most part it has been a smooth road, what business doesn’t encounter its ups & downs. I would have to say trying to keep cost down for our customers is always a struggle, between the cost to purchase what we need to run our business to the basic essentials such as gas, insurance, repair I could go on, and on here! As everyone knows who runs a business these days Help is a big thing finding good people is always difficult it takes a special individual to stand in front of a grinding wheel for a 9 hour shift, and to drive a route with a large number of customers to see in one day 50-90 stops could be made depending on the routes area.

Please tell us about D.A.Bucci & Sons.
