Today we’d like to introduce you to Perry Bailes. Perry and his team share their story with us below.
We’d love to learn more of Perry’s story. Can you tell us more about him and how he got to where he is today?
One thing that’s apparent about Perry is that he’s passionate about Cannabis.
Perry came from a military family. His dad was a 27 year veteran and retired back to their hometown in Georgia. Perry followed in the footsteps of his father and went into the military. Learning essential skills like discipline, leadership and patience.
After several years, Perry left his service and went on to college and eventually earned 2 degrees from Georgia Southern University.
After college, Perry got involved with the startup industry, which allowed him to discover his passion for technology and building businesses. It was during that time that he realized that he wanted to build his own business. But what? Wicked Frosty Farms was born! Having been a cultivator, enthusiast and lover of high quality cannabis for many years. Today, the company is deeply entrenched in product development and completing the exhaustive regulatory process. He feels so fortunate to combine his passion and his abilities now to contribute to a blossoming Massachusetts cannabis industry.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The cannabis industry is not for the faint of heart. Get used to heartache! Where do I start? The financial insecurity of being a newly regulated industry that has been stalled for almost two years? The stigma and odd looks you get when you tell people what you do? The people who have made up their mind about who you are based on the fact you enjoy cannabis? Or the business challenges… You have to start with a good idea. You have to have a reason that you will succeed. What is going to set you apart? What’s your right to win? When you answer those questions, WRITE IT DOWN, then don’t stop writing. Write your ideas, hopes, dreams, limitations, obstacles, and barriers down… Be honest with yourself about what you can and cannot do. The sheer amount of planning is overwhelming…Business plans, Investment planning, Regulatory compliance, Marketing research and plans, Sales forecasting, Architectural and engineering plans, I’m probably forgetting a lot, but needless to say it’s a tremendous undertaking! You need to be ready to learn and move quickly.

What were you like growing up?
My family moved a good bit. I got to see the rest of the country at an early age. I was a typical military brat/nerd growing up. Goofing off, playing games and sports. We all hung out together and watched out for each other. One of the drawbacks was learning to leave places and things behind I had gotten used to. I had to learn to reach out to people regardless of being self-conscious or out of my comfort zone. It was either learn to put yourself out there or learn to appreciate some alone time. I found that I would rather get out into the world and see what awaited me.
