So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Line or Cordage, as the Mariners call Rope, is a fascinating medium that you create so many items, including weaving Rope wreaths using a Turks Head Knot to begin. “A Wreath has no beginning and has no end”. Our typical wreath is 50’ of line, be it Manila, thistle, synthetics or mixes create a wonderful wreath welcoming mariners to home or ship.

As I say on our web site, ‘for the mariner in all of us’. Always fascinated with creating something from nothing working with line is relaxing and decorating with starfish (my favorites) or shells ribbons and more making eye catching decoration for doors or walls, or gates as I have used them is enjoyable! A fun pastime became a hobby, and friends and family asking for one for gifts, it grew naturally into a little more than a hobby today.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Oh no, learning the Turks head Knot is challenging. I’ve tried teaching it to others and its mind blogging. Once you grasp, I don’t think you ever forget it. Knotical Cordage has a following now and that is fun.

Being a mile from The Original Cordage Park in Plymouth Ma is wonderful. Learning about Plymouth Cordage Company and how it was one of the largest suppliers of Cordage in North America and now it’s gone. The original Rope walk is now a museum at Mystic Seaport. Rope walk is where they twisted the large ‘reels’ of Cordage into 600+ feet.

I specialize in making fun wreaths for people looking for something unique and nautical for their home or business or a gift. I custom make some for size and color and decor they are looking for.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Not a thing!
