Today we’d like to introduce you to Paige Christo.
Paige, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
By day, I’m an accountant and wanted a creative outlet. To delve into my creativity, PKCeats was formed. To be honest, when I created PKCeats I did not really envision creating a brand. Now, there’s so much buzz associated with being an influencer, but as a content creator, it’s a side hustle. Eating has always been my hobby. Cooking and eating shaped my childhood as well as who I am as a woman. I kept PKCeats quiet. I did not tell anyone for months as it grew anonymously.
Eventually, it became public to family, friends and colleagues with some who already followed my journey without knowing it was me. PKCeats evolves with me. For example, luckily now I’m with someone that knows and trusts what I do and enjoys being a part of the journey of eating, cooking and creating. This is how the hand model came into play throughout the past year in my pictures. It was a mysterious addition of who am I spending my time with. It’s fun because unless you really know me, you don’t see all the sides of who I am.
Has it been a smooth road?
It’s been a smooth road because this wasn’t built on expectations. It was built on creativity and I have been careful to keep it fun and stick with the image I created for myself. Let’s face it, everyone wants to be an influencer, so yes it’s tough to stand out in a world of Instagram accounts similar to my own. I feel clever captions, travel, and being completely me has lead to success. You need to maintain your relevance by what you produce next.
For me, the biggest struggle is juggling everything: my career, the public relations for the Toast to St. Jude, an annual gala in Boston for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PKCeats, and maintaining life. I mean you see these memes about brushing your teeth and being a good friend and with all that’s going on it’s important not to let that small stuff slide. You need your roots – your family, your significant other, your friends to keep you grounded.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
PKCeats specializes in food, wellness, drinks, travel, and where you should be. I’m known for not staying in one place, trying new restaurants, sharing recipes, and never ever posting unless I truly believe you’d enjoy what I’m sharing. I’m most proud that something that was supposed to be just to be creative and fun, sparked into content creation.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Content creation is tough due to the competitive nature of influencers. Some want to be an influencer, but don’t put the detail and depth into their work. There’s a lot of influencers out there so I recommend standing out, sticking to your image, and not just being what someone tells you to be. If you reflect your true character through content creation, you will succeed. It’s about what others will say about you when you’re not in the room.
