Meet Olivia DiBona of Olivia’s Hair Boutique in Braintree

Today we’d like to introduce you to Olivia DiBona.

Olivia, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have wanted to do hair for as long as I can remember. I was in college and definitely not loving it, so when TONI&GUY Hairdressing Academy opened up in my home town I took that as a sign to chase my dreams. A few months into my training I took a position as an assistant at The Mane Connection in Braintree. I was given my own chair once I graduated and I used to joke with my former boss and coworker that they would work for me one day – never imagining it would be this soon. A few years later I was given the opportunity to take over and I couldn’t say no.

Opening the salon has been an absolute dream-come-true and I am loving every second of it. I have the best coworkers and most amazing clients, so it never feels like work to me. Being able to get to know and form friendships with so many different people is the best part of my job, and making them feel beautiful and confident is definitely a bonus.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Overall, opening the salon has been a smooth road. I was twenty-one when I bought the salon, so I definitely had to prove myself to everyone. Though I saw my age as my weakness then, I now feel like that is my strength and am so grateful to have started this journey so early on.

Olivia’s Hair Boutique – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My salon is in the heart of the Braintree Square, on the corner of Washington Street and Elm Street. We do all things hair, from cutting and coloring to extensions and bridal styling. We also do makeup and facial waxing. I specialize in highlighting techniques to give the hair a natural, sun-kissed finish.

I think what sets my salon apart from others in the area is our size and environment. I loving having a small, four-chair salon because of the cozy and comforting feel it gives to our clients. Our goal is to give each client exceptional service while making them feel at-home in our salon.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I am proud every day to own a business in my hometown and be able to service those in my community. As well as making clients look and feel like the best version of themselves, giving back and donating to local schools and charities has been the most rewarding part of being a business owner.
