Meet Norri Oberlander of North End Properties

Today we’d like to introduce you to Norri Oberlander.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My name is Norri Oberlander and I am the Vice President of North End Properties. I was raised by my New Yorker parents, my father taught me to be a strong-minded businesswoman and my mother taught me to be the life of the party. I am the wife of a business teacher and the mother of two delicious kids. I am an active landlady in downtown Manchester and I am a proactive landlady for my tenants. I am passionate about downtown Manchester because downtown is the sales pitch for all of Manchester, NH! We are a family owned business who cares about our tenants and pays close attention to our properties.

I was born and raised in Bedford, NH where I graduated from West High. I then attended Hofstra University in New York, because my parents raised me with an “NY Mentality” & I always thought New York was where I belonged. I met my husband in New York & landed my dream job as an Event Planner & life was great, but I felt something was missing. I missed the NH foliage, I missed the friendly New Hampshire atmosphere, & I missed driving without traffic, but most of all I missed my family & wondered where I would eventually land.

Where could my kids receive the best education & still be “down to earth”? Where could I get the best bang for my buck in real estate? Where could I still have the urban lifestyle I’ve always wanted? So I decided to boomerang back to New Hampshire to raise my family and it’s the best decision I ever made! We live in Londonderry on a pond with mother nature and I absolutely love working & playing in downtown Manchester where I can foster my yearning for an urban lifestyle as well. As a landlady, I serve as Manchester’s welcoming committee because my job is to sell Manchester, NH every day and I love every minute of it!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I’m sure anyone can imagine that being a landlady comes with struggle. My tenants and employees have access to me 24/7 and I pride myself on A+ customer service, but I work hard to have a work/life balance, sometimes I succeed and sometimes I fail. My life consists of being a landlady, a manager, a marketer, a salesperson, a bookkeeper, along with being a mom, daughter, wife, & friend! I am also the incoming chair for Intown Manchester and board member & fundraiser for Temple Israel and in addition, I serve on several committees in downtown Manchester…… PHEW! Yes, I have a lot on my plate, but I take one day at a time, I literally live and die by that saying, because I would drown without it!!!

North End Properties is a family owned business specializing in apartment rentals and commercial leasing in Manchester, New Hampshire. We pride ourselves on A+ customer service and offer 24/7 emergency assistance to my personal mobile phone number. I care about my tenants, I take care of my properties, and people feel a sense of security and warmth when renting from us (my Father is from Brooklyn and went overboard on security haha) and I love meeting new people and “selling” Manchester. It’s easy to succeed when a tenant feels how genuine our business is and how we care about their safety and happiness.

What were you like growing up?
I am the middle child and people would describe me as fun, but most importantly I am REAL. I’m a straight shooter and tell it like it is, but I genuinely care about people and their feelings. I am a connector in the Manchester community, I mentor fellow landlords, and I want to see everyone succeed! I truly believe in the power of positivity and don’t just talk about it, do it! I teach my kids to get the most out of life and to be fun and crazy because I’m crazy fun and I own it! My most favorite activity is dancing and music, at the end of a very long day, dreaming of hip-hop dancing is my everything!
