Today we’d like to introduce you to Niki Novak.
Niki, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started Sweet -n-Nasty 30+ years ago. We were the first erotic bakery in New England and we remain so even today. My vision was to provide fun and delicious cakes and chocolates and it’s become so much more. I have expanded the business to toys, gifts, cards, Novelties, and hundreds of seductive chocolates and erotic cupcakes available online and in the store daily.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I have had to overcome much adversity. Boston 30 years ago was a very conservative place. I had real trouble finding advertising opportunities. I was lucky enough to create a buzz using the controversial products I sold and overcame the discrimination problem that way . People were interested! I found being a woman in the adult industry had its challenges too. People don’t always take you seriously. I hadn’t set out to be a pioneer but looking back on it I feel like I helped pave the way for other female entrepreneurs!
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Sweet-N-Nasty – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Sweet-n-Nasty specializes in adult cakes and seductive chocolates. I am very proud of the business the bakery has turned into. I think of it as one of my children! We are known for some very creative and delicious cakes. . I pride myself on using fresh local ingredients and keeping the price affordable. We pride ourselves on excellent service and finding out as much as we can about the recipients of the cake so we can provide a very customized product. My decorators are some of the most talented in the country!
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I have been fortunate enough to have four locations in Boston. I have combined my shops to a central location accessible from The mass pike, storrow*Drive, and the expressway coming from the north and south. I purchased my space so I have the freedom to create the perfect home for Sweet-N-Nasty. I look forward to another 35 years of Adult cakes & Seductive chocolates!
