Today we’d like to introduce you to Atiba Frazer-Nichols.
Atiba, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
So, I originally started my transition into the real estate business as a crew chief at a moving company. I had been working manual labor for about four years and making decent money when I realized that moving furniture and driving commercial trucks wasn’t going to cut it, especially for my knees! I spoke with broker/ owner Robert Nichols of Boston Trust Realty Group and became an intern while still working the moving gig. I eventually went on to getting my sales license and becoming a full time real estate agent with BTRG. After about a year, working mostly on project managing fix and flips as well as the leasing side of the brokerage, I decided, it was time to really make an impact by going all in and starting up a property management business with Rob Nichols called Nichols Realty Management. Our purpose is to facilitate any landlord or property owner who is looking to expand their portfolio, renovate their property that they already own or take a vacation without the worry of dependent tenants back home. And, with a licensed Brokerage Company as well we are able to provide additional services that other property management company’s are not, such as listing and leasing property.
Has it been a smooth road?
Smooth might be the last word I would use to describe the transition. Starting out as a young entrepreneur you have to keep a keen eye out and a listening ear. I say this because you are starting out in territory that is unfamiliar to you and 9 times out of 10 it shows! That being said there are people you will come in contact with that will try to take advantage of your naïveté. I’ve learned that making confident decisions and trusting your gut are two surefire ways to prosper in this business and to stay on the path most smooth.

At Nichols Realty Management we specailize in maintenance, leasing, landscaping, bookkeeping, snow removal, repairs and modernization. We also have an on-call handyman and provide great rates for all of our customers. We, unlike other management companies, have built a solid team of agents, tax accountants, master pipe fitters, master electricians, builders and investors who all work and grow within our pipeline.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love my city. Born and raised in Roxbury. There is a great deal of history in Roxbury alone, especially for minorities such as myself. The late, great Malcolm X migrated here in his teenage years, lived and learned in these very streets we walk in which is why we now have a boulevard dedicated in his name. We have the best sports teams in the world and our Boston pride is unmatched.
