Meet Martin Stevenson of Stannah Stairlifts in Franklin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Martin Stevenson.

Martin, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Stannah is a fifth generation, family-owned business, focused on providing accessibility through quality craftsmanship. We were founded in London over 150 years ago and have steadily grown into one of the largest lifting companies in the world. In 1975, we began producing stair lifts and have since installed over 600,000 worldwide. 2017 was an important year for Stannah, as we celebrated both are 150th anniversary as a company and 25 years in the US.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There have certainly been struggles along the way. From the destruction of the Stannah factory in London during WWII and through several financial crises and restructurings of the business, we’ve remained focused on our core values of quality, safety and integrity.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Stannah Stairlifts Inc. – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Stannah is recognized around the world as a company that brings independence, freedom and a strong sense of safety back to anyone who has difficulty overcoming the challenges posed by the stairs in their home. Our indoor and outdoor stair lifts are recognized for their exceptional quality and value. We’re even able to provide custom-designed stair lifts for indoor stairs that turn. Today, there are more Stannah stair lifts in place than any other brand around the world.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Stannah has recently expanded, opening a new office in the Greater Toronto area. This is a great opportunity for us to engage directly with the Canadian market and get a better understanding of the needs of our customers there. In the coming years, we plan to meet the growing demand for aging in place solutions, as the demographics continue to shift toward a more aged population. We’re focused on helping seniors live safely and independently, and we’re looking forward to offering new and innovative products to help them do so.
