Meet Nate Witkowski of Warrior Fitness in North Shore & Peabody

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nate Witkowski.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
When I was a collegiate baseball player at Bentley University, I got obsessed with the gym. It was a place that gave me the freedom to step away from the everyday grind and focus on making myself better on and off the field. I spent a countless number of hours in the early morning figuring out ways to push myself to get stronger mentally and physically.

Since graduating, the work ethic and mindset lessons I learned in my athletic career, I applied to the real world and everyday life. After a short time in corporate America and feeling like I was not making the impact I dreamed of, I quit my job to pursue my passion of helping others achieve their fitness goals and helping them achieve a lifestyle they have control over.

Since starting my fitness career, I have trained a number of clients and athletes to reach their goals mentally and physically. I call it The Warrior Lifestyle (www.mywarriorlifestyle.com). The Warrior Lifestyle is about waking up every day and attacking life. We don’t put any limits on what it is we can or cannot do. We have a routine. We focus on being so prepared for every moment that we know the move of our opponent before they even know what they are doing. We are noble and grateful for every opportunity that has been created for us and for the ones we have created for ourselves. We surround ourselves with a team that will bring us up and not drags us down. We never give up and we hustle every single day so that maybe one day our time comes and we are ready to take it. We never fall to mediocrity and we only expect the best from ourselves and everyone around us.

My goal as a coach is not only to help my clients to accomplish their goals but to help transform their daily habits and mindset that will make these changes permanent. I know that everyone has the potential to be great and I know everyone wants to get to that point. But a lot of people have a hard time tapping into that part of themselves. I take tremendous pride in helping people reach their full potential and in showing them that their goals in life matter!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, it has not been a smooth road. But I also believe nothing worth having comes smoothly.

One of the biggest struggles I had was getting out of my comfort zone. I grew up a shy kid. Yes, I was an athlete my entire life, I am one of six in my family, I even danced {hip-hop} competitively during high school. But when I decided to become a fitness coach, I had to really get out of my comfort zone and it was hard for me. This was something new for me, in the sense of commanding a room and keeping people motivated to be the best they can be during this workout. I can remember my first ever class and how I was stumbling over my words and forgetting what the workout was. I was embarrassed. And this happened a few times even after that. But I was still doing what I was passionate about.

When you stay in your comfort zone you don’t give people everything you got. And especially as a fitness coach, you need to be that for your clients. You need to be high energy, motivating, positive, loud, smiling. You got to be willing to give all of yourself to the people you are working out. And in the beginning this was a struggle for me and to be honest, I don’t think it made the workouts enjoyable at first. So getting out of my comfort zone and showing more of my personality has been something I have worked hard on. And because of it, my business has grown.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am a fitness coach. I am not a personal trainer, I am not an instructor, I am a coach. And I help people create their Warrior Lifestyle, which happens to be the name of my business.

We strive to get the best out of you and we do that through fitness. I have always believed that if you have your fitness and health in check everything else falls into place. So, I help people get that in check and dialed in so they can be their best in every aspect of life.

I specialize in group training. I run group fitness classes in Peabody, MA, six days a week. When you walk into the gym, you can expect to be welcomed by a community of people all striving to be better and helping you to do the same. This community is probably the thing I am most proud of with this business. It is what I wanted to create so badly for people because I know the importance of it. We have a tribe of warriors that are striving for greatness.

Our classes are strength/athletic based. With that, I like to incorporate a lot of circuits and high-intensity interval training into my workouts as well.

I tell people all the time, if you walk into the gym on your own and you are lost as to what to do next, come check us out. I like to lift weights, dumbbells, kettlebells, and push sleds so we do that a lot during our workouts. We are going to make sure everyone has correct form and technique and no one is doing something out of their abilities.

What sets us apart from your traditional gym or studio is our process. We are not working out to just get a sweat. We are working out for long-term health and fitness as well as a stronger mindset. Yes, our workouts are great to add into your regular weekly workouts, but we see the best results from the people coming in three-four times a week on a consistent basis. They have their goals in mind and we work every day to get one step closer.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plans for the future are to keep providing the best group fitness classes in the North Shore Area. We have a lot of great events and workouts planned. I really want to be able to reach as many people as I can either in person or social media and help them any way I can. So, I really look forward to continuing to provide a lot of free content on social media, keep growing the gym and memberships and eventually looking for my own place to call home.
