Today we’d like to introduce you to Natasha Groblewski.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Natasha. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I grew up in Lexington, MA and have lived here my entire life. I fell in love with barre3 after graduating from Middlebury College and moving across the country to Portland, OR, in 2009. I was drawn to barre3’s warmth, its welcoming community, and its challenging yet centering workout.
After a year in Portland, I moved back home to Massachusetts, with the goal of eventually opening a barre3 studio in my hometown area. I worked as a management consultant, as well as in HR and operations for tech startups for several years after returning home. In 2015, I became an instructor at barre3 Needham, and soon after that began working toward opening my first studio.
In January 2017, I opened the doors of barre3 Bedford. Just 5 months later, I purchased barre3 Sudbury and opened its doors in September 2017. My dream has been to provide women with a safe place where they can feel strong, empowered, and supported.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Initially, the biggest obstacles were gaining applicable experience and accumulating the necessary funds to start my businesses. However, since opening, there are still struggles.
Employee issues and turnover, sleepy summer months, along with promoting my businesses have been some of the toughest struggles. Additionally, I think trying to find a good balance in my own life is a struggle — I constantly see more than I can do and thus, finding time for myself and loved ones is a constant battle.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Barre3 Bedford + Sudbury – what should we know?
I am the owner of both barre3 Bedford and barre3 Sudbury. You’ll see me do it all: teach classes (at least 10x a week!), work the front desk, clean the toilets, train our staff, promote our business, and much more behind the scenes.
Barre3 is a full-body mindful workout that delivers remarkable results from the inside out. You’re guided through sustained holds, muscle-burning micro-movements, and heart-pumping cardio bursts during class. The barre3 signature approach leaves you feeling balanced in body and empowered from within.
I believe what sets us apart is 3 part:
1) We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all model. Instead, we offer modifications and options throughout the class and encourage clients to listen to their bodies and find what movement feels right at that moment. Working through pain is only going to set us back, so by taking these modifications, you end up finding the results you want much faster.
2) We truly believe that the more you can connect with your community, the happier and healthier you will be. Our goal is to provide a warm, welcoming environment for everyone to feel safe and accepted. Sometimes it can be really scary walking into a fitness studio for the first time. So we make sure to show our clients lots of love and support them throughout their entire time at our studio.
3) The mindfulness and mind-body emphasis of our classes. As mentioned above, we are constantly encouraging clients to check in with their bodies and notice how they’re feeling, then honor that truth. Additionally, for the last few minutes of class, we slow and focus on the breath. This breath work calms the mind and body and gives clients the tools to de-stress throughout their days. In short, we work clients incredibly hard, but when they leave, they feel balanced, centered, and energized.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Authenticity. I feel that clients can tell that I am real and authentic and that I 100% love what I do. I believe in my clients, I see their beauty and strength, and I am their biggest cheerleader. Barre3 changed my life and I know that barre3 can change theirs as well.
