Meet Nabely Christalin of Christalight and Co in Dorchester

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nabely Christalin.

Nabely, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Jason and I have always had a burning desire to work for ourselves. I simply can’t remember not wanting to be an entrepreneur and when we met we shared that same value. We always wanted freedom and build something that our children can take over and continue building on.

My inspiration for finally taking that step and starting Christalight and Co stemmed from witnessing my brother worked up until the week before he died of cancer simply to provide of his family. I believe if he had his own business at least he would’ve had the chance to spend his remaining days enjoying his loved ones instead of working until he could no longer stand or even sit. I desperately wanted to be there for him but because of my own responsibilities and lack of finances I could not. The situation helped me realize that I must have financial freedom and in order to truly have financial freedom and be in control of my future I had to own my own business.

Christalight and Co started as an Event enhancement company providing Open-Air Photo Booth and Celebrity Red Carpet Entrance services. My business partner /fiancé and I worked on the business while holding on to our day jobs. We would work only on weekends. In February, 2017 we have decided to take the leap and dive into Full-Time Entrepreneurship. Our company have grown. We now have our own Office/ Photography Studio.

While we still provide Open-Air Photo Booth and Celebrity Red Carpet Entrance Services, We now produce our own events. We currently produce 4 each year.
-I Do Love & Royalty Soiree – For Couples
– A themed Singles event (Modern Harlem Nights Single Glam)
-The Vendors’ Block Showcase & Networking Soiree (Geared to exposed our local small businesses)
– Free Children Christmas Party.
We are planning on adding more events in the future.

We also take on people’s events as well. All we need is their budget, colors, theme, cuisine preference and their guest list. We handle everything else, from invitations to the very last detail. We are a one Stop Shop for all Event Needs.

Has it been a smooth road?
Ha! A smooth road!? We wish! There is no rest for the ambitious, in all honesty what is success without struggle? We try our best to embrace trials and tribulations as they come, perception is key in this mindset. I think most entrepreneurs at some point or the other come to terms with the fact that failure is all a part of growing: we fail to prevail day in and day out. Trust me, we have had more moments of struggle than triumph but we learn from them and look to the future; dwelling in the past can cloud ones judgement in the future. So we’d much rather focus on the accolades than the obstacles we face.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Honestly achievements are the product of focus and action. Where you are in most cases is irrelevant …but WHO YOU ARE amidst adversity tends to override any challenge that may arise. Developing progressive daily habits is one of the most important things if not THE only important thing.

Is your business concept feasible? Who are you catering to? What is the problem and how can you solve it? Now ask yourself “Am I working towards answering these questions and solving these problems?”. Does my daily regiment support me resolving these issues? Boston can only offer so much It’s like playing Super Mario Brothers, the level has a ton of power ups and coins to collect but if you simply just run through the game without exploring all that the level has to offer you will undoubtedly cross the finish line with less knowledge than you started with, less capital and not enough power to combat the level boss lol. This process is applicable to most major cities you need only seek it out.
