Meet Molly Merluzzi of MM Consulting

Today we’d like to introduce you to Molly Merluzzi.

In January of 2016, Molly launched, MM Consulting, an independent strategic marketing firm that focuses on taking the ‘intimidation factor’ out of traditional and social media-based marketing for local, start-up, non-profit, small and medium sized businesses.

MM Consulting provides clients with strategic direction and tactical management of marketing, social media and public relations’ efforts including but not limited to content creation, brand strategy, social postings and advertising, email marketing, website evaluation and design to help them tell their brand story in an authentic, captivating way.

Previously, Molly led global marketing for Nuance Communications’, a global technology company focused on artificial intelligence, natural language understanding and gesture-based technologies, Mobile division. At Nuance, she partnered with clients such as Apple, Intel, Samsung, Comcast, Qualcomm and more to fuel powerful media angles, content creation for web portals, blogs and social media, holistic brand narratives, led meaningful and modernized campaigns for partners in the wearables, robotics, advertising, smartphone, tablet and the new frontier of the Internet of Things.

Before Nuance, Molly led Keurig Green Mountain’s global consumer PR efforts. She graduated from Wheaton College in Norton, MA with a double major in English and Hispanic Studies.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I have always felt that the road to realizing one’s own personal and professional path requires an open mind — saying, ‘YES!’, when an opportunity emerges, no matter how unfamiliar or intimidating. This mantra allowed me to lead consumer public relations for Keurig Green Mountain right out of college — without much experience and with a whopping helping of the unfamiliar. Shortly thereafter, this mantra opened the door to a position in the corporate communications’ department at Nuance, rising through the ranks to lead global marketing for the consumer and technology-facing, Mobile division.

My greatest struggle and my proudest professional moment was taking the leap into establishing my own marketing firm. I said, ‘Yes!’, to the desire to become a genuine advocate for the organizations, small and medium-sized businesses, non-profits and start-ups in which I truly believe. It was certainly an awakening to become one’s own boss, HR department, Finance team and more. However, the freedom to follow my passion has infinitely changed my world a thousand times for the better.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with MM Consulting – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I run a marketing firm that values a full spectrum of perspectives, missions and values. My clients are primarily women-owned businesses (which I love!) but I have worked with individuals, causes and organizations across all industries, managed by all types of clients.

We provide clients with strategic direction and tactical management of marketing, social media and public relations’ efforts including but not limited to content creation, brand strategy, social postings and advertising, email marketing, website evaluation and design to help them tell their brand story in an authentic, captivating way.

Our focus is on ‘real talk’ that cuts through a very noisy social space and allows our clients’ brands to find their footing in an otherwise slippery slope of marketing needs. I would like to think that our commitment to giving our clients honest, thoughtful feedback on their current methods and future opportunities makes us a true asset.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We hope to continue growing our network of collaborators and to find new and interesting projects, causes and brands with which we can work.

A personal dream would be to establish a network for female business owners to collaborate, grow, learn and challenge each other. I have envisioned this taking the form of an in-person or virtual conference with women contacts from around the world submitting questions and discussing them live. This would also be supplement by a podcast focused on featuring smart women with questions about their personal and professional life that are not put into classical and limiting tropes such as ‘having it all’ (as if that is an exception to the rule).
