Today we’d like to introduce you to Moe Torraco.
Moe began singing at the age of three, as her father would play Sinatra tunes from the great American songbook on the piano. She later performed on stage in the lead role of “Maria” in The Sound of Music, and “Amber” in Hairspray. Moe began drawing more significant attention when she delivered a stirring and memorable rendition of The National Anthem in front of a capacity crowd at Conte Forum on the campus of Boston College.
After earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Musical Theater from Catholic University, she was selected to appear on the Katie Couric show, originally as a model filmed on Madison Avenue, and then spontaneously a live appearance on the show. Later that year she appeared in episodes of NBC’s show Smash.
Please tell us about your art.
Moe has drawn upon her deeply personal experiences of love and loneliness, of joy and tragedy, of hope and hopelessness, to transpose these feeling into compelling musical lyrics and melodies that will touch the hearts and souls of those who listen. Her unique ability to vividly reach to the stars for meaningful thoughts and visions, bring those ideas back to earth, and then deliver with powerful vocal abilities, is the stuff that attracts an audience that will come back looking for more.
What do you think is the biggest challenge facing artists today?
I think the biggest challenge is remaining true to who you are in a world that is constantly changing. As performers, we cater to an audience; however, it is so important to remember who you are in the process because that will guide you through and make each interaction and performance authentic.
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
