Today we’d like to introduce you to Mirela Kulovic.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
From an early age, I was concerned with questions of the purpose of life. After finishing Industrial Engineering Graduate Program, I discovered painting. Soon after, I felt that this is what I want to do every day. I naturally connected with oil paint, terpenoids, pencils, ink, pastels. It was a relief to work with hands, brushes, and pencils.
Today when we use so much technology and many people work in the office, art is important as never before.
Beside my painting practice, I intensively work with artists and other professionals on my project ‘Art Centar Gračanica’ in a small town in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The mission is to support, develop and promote access to art in Bosnia and the region.
Please tell us about your art.
My painting practice is a mysterious journey inward. It is a very personal and intimate process. The result I want to get is awakening my and other people’s spirit. All artists I admire worked for the same reason.
As an artist, how do you define success and what quality or characteristic do you feel is essential to success as an artist?
Success is finding a way to do it as much as one can.
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
My art studio is situated in SoWa Art & Design District at 450 Harrison Ave. in Boston, MA. Every first Friday my doors are open to visitors during ‘First Friday Open Studios’ from 5-9 pm. My work can be seen at Bromfield Gallery, Cambridge Art Association, and other local art venues. Soon my work will be available in one gallery in Sarajevo.
