Meet Mike Graciale of Seaport Tattoo in South Boston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mike Graciale.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
As a young teen I started doing graffiti painting train cars and abandon warehouses like a little hoodlum and transitioned into different mediums until a close friend suggested tattooing, you know… something that will pay the bills. I gathered a portfolio together of drawings and paintings and searched for an apprenticeship and oddly enough I got one pretty quick in southern New Hampshire. Did the whole free labor and earning my stripes thing for 2 and a half years and then was granted my wings to go out on my own. I was signed over my practitioner’s license. Then I worked at a shop in Cambridge for about 3 years and now I am here at Seaport Tattoo for hopefully a long while

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No struggles at all. Struggle in my opinion is a mind-set! I’ve just had a good time learning what I do.

Please tell us about Seaport Tattoo.
I am one of the artists at seaport and I try to cater to all styles but mostly right now I’m having fun with portraits and black work. I am most proud for our ability to work as a team at seaport and for everybody here not afraid to go the extra mile and practically invest our entire lives into what we do.
