Today we’d like to introduce you to Merk Aveli.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Merk. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Been drawing my entire life. Creating professional for the past ten years using the skills I’ve acquired over twenty plus years in both spray can art and digital illustration.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not. Some of the things I’ve powered thru were the negative stigma that graffiti is not art. Surviving the Boston police and they witch hunt mentality towards street artists. Constantly evolving my style and craft in a rapidly expanding culture blending digital technology and unorthodox modern art forms to create works and build a positive following spanning the globe thru funk and public art.
Merkthose.com – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I’m an independent artist floating between conflicting worlds of fine art and street art. I’m most proud of exhibiting and painting live in spray can art styles at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. What sets me apart from others is my original style developed over a lifetime of exploration and adventure. Currently I specialize in mural design and portraiture, as well as digital illustration.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Waking up each day answering to no one and creating beauty for a living, bung bung.
