Meet Dr. Mark Lique DC CFMP of Haverhill Family Chiropractic

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Mark Lique DC CFMP.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the practice, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My original plan was to go to medical school. The summer after graduating from college, while waiting to start graduate school, I found myself working for a Chiropractor. Within a couple of months of working in that office and seeing people get healthier and feel better, without having to take drugs or have surgery, inspired me to pursue another path. I immediately applied for Chiropractic college.

After graduating, I got married, had children, and eventually opened my own chiropractic office.

A few years ago, my young daughter started losing her hair. After being told by several doctors and specialists that it was an autoimmune disease, and there was nothing we could do (except topical steroids, or injections directly into her scalp), I decided that I would try to figure out the answers myself.

This leads me down the path to getting certified in functional medicine. Using the principles that I learned while taking these classes, my daughter has successfully started regrowing her hair. My experience in helping my daughter overcome something that we were told that she “just had to deal with”, is my driving force in spreading the word to others that there is ALWAYS hope.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Every path is filled with a few bumps along the way. Owning your own business can be a struggle in itself.

However, I would have to say that the biggest struggles that come up are when your attention is pulled away from helping your community in order to help your family.

Family always comes first, but it can be tough to set aside business needs for a time knowing the potential impact.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Haverhill Family Chiropractic story. Tell us more about it.
We always try to do what’s best for the person that is walking through the door, regardless of their presenting problem, insurance coverage, financial issues or complexity of their case. If we know of something that could help a patient, we will try it. Our main goal is to meet the goal of the patient, as long as it is within our realm of possibility.

While we are a Chiropractic office, we also work on lifestyle and functional medicine, in order to help people suffering from long-term issues that aren’t just related to pain. Autoimmunity, for instance, such as my daughter suffered from.

The main things that people refer to us for are our compassion, our personal level of care, and our flexibility to make appointments.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I’m not really one to give luck too much credit when it comes to my life or business.

Was it lucky that I’ve worked in places that showed me how I don’t want to treat people? Or was it luck that I had a boss that was so horrible that I left just in time to be able to purchase the office that I’m in now?

I certainly wouldn’t call an autoimmune disease “luck.”

However, without these experiences, I would not be where I am, practicing the way that I do.
