Today we’d like to introduce you to Marie and Philip Hamilton.
Marie and Philip, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
12 years ago I was faced with a decision on whether to stay at a job I no longer had trust in or finally take that leap and go out on my own. Well, I did jump with the support of my husband and close friends. I worked on my own in a small storefront teaching cycling class, weight training and training young athletes. The time came to expand I found a 5000 sq.ft space in my hometown hoping to get at least 300 members so I could stay in business.
Well, I am proud to say that 7 years later we have grown to over 6000 sq. Ft (and still need more) and over 1000 members. I have to say that I have been blessed to have so many good people in my life that helped me succeed and because of that I try to pay it forward to the people in my community who support me. Together with my son after raising well over 100,000$ in the last 7 years have started a nonprofit called paying it forward Winthrop. All the money we raised is given out to people or groups in our town in need. We do small fundraisers threw out the year and one road race. There is no better feeling than loving what you do and making other people happy at the same time.
Has it been a smooth road?
Nothing is ever easy and it takes hard work and sacrifice. You miss out on family events.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with RPM fitness – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I think rpm is most known for our cycling classes which I think are the best! I have been doing high-intensity interval training for at least 14 years now and I still believe they help us make major changes in our bodies.
What sets us apart from other especially chains is that we care and want you to succeed. What I am most proud of is that RPM is my baby and I have watched it grow and it is still growing The name RPM is very personal to mean because it doesn’t just stand for revolutions per min it represents my children Robert, Philip, and Mark who have been next to me this whole journey.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Boston is a great city with tradition! I love that the most. I ran my first marathon after the bombing I felt the need to stand with the city and support the victims the only way I new how, by running.
