Meet Maribeth Jemmott of Certified Interiors in Plymouth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maribeth Jemmott.

Maribeth, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My inspiration to become an interior designer started back in high school. My friend, Margie had a baby sitting gig and asked me to join her for the day. We entered this luxurious condo and “WOW” was I impressed. Plush white carpeting welcomed you in.

Hanging on the wall was this multi-level irregular shaped mirror that sparkled brilliantly and as I turned to the right was the master bedroom. I was immediately drawn into the room. A modern splendor of red and white. There was a mixture of textures, plush white carpet, red lacquered dressers with red framed mirrors mounted above, and a white leather headboard. The bedding was a fluffy white down comforter. I loved the crispness and clarity.

As I stood there admiring and absorbing it all, I said to myself “I could do this.” It was that simple. I was so moved by the beauty of it all. It stirred in me the direction my life would take.

I opened Certified Interiors 20 years ago and have been fortunate and grateful to work with so many remarkable people. The projects are primarily residential, but I have done some commercial, health care and restaurant design. Presently, I’m working on group home residences which I’m so excited to provide the residents with fresh new updated looks for their homes.

Has it been a smooth road?
For the most part projects go smoothly. Communication is vital to a successful project. I like to have a conversation with clients at the first meeting, letting them know that things can or may go wrong. It’s how they’re handled and resolved that makes the difference.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Certified Interiors – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Certified Interiors is primarily a residential design company. Projects can range from window treatment designs to full home remodels as well as new construction. Space planning, bathroom and kitchen design as well as furniture specification are some of the services I offer. I’m a certified interior designer and a licensed contract supervisor which sets me apart from others because my design and construction knowledge provides peace of mind to my clients knowing I can be the liaison between them and contractors.

I am most proud of enhancing my clients’ lives by providing them with beautiful functional homes to live in. It’s always nice to get the call that life has been made easier and better as well as how beautiful everything looks.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I like the great restaurants and architecture in Boston, but the traffic can be challenging.
