Today we’d like to introduce you to Margaret Stockley.
Margaret, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
It’s been said that many paths lead to one destination, however, I like to think that many detours have led to one path; and for me, it’s a journey that is evolving and growing from strength to strength.
My career began as a Registered Nurse in Scotland, then when I immigrated to America I took additional certifications in wellness coaching, project management, worksite wellness evaluation, corporate wellness training, and as a TriYoga teacher certified to Level 2. I also co-wrote my first book, Inner Knowledge.
Phew! All of these amazing certifications helped pave the way to where I am today.
Within a couple of years, my coaching and TriYoga business evolved into the corporate wellness arena where I created the Aspire2 Wellness Group, providing consulting to companies wanting to implement or improve a workplace wellness program.
I quickly recognized areas where companies were struggling and wrote my second book on my own, Transforming Workplace Wellness, to provide even more people with practical strategies to inspire sustainable positive change.
While the Aspire2 Wellness Group continues to provide workplace wellness program consulting to companies and organizations, Apire2 has given birth, so to speak, to the Professional Organization for Wellness Certification (POWCERT). Our mission at POWCERT is to create a healthier nation by educating, inspiring, and developing a culture of wellbeing within organizations that will invigorate employees to build a lifelong commitment to healthier lifestyles and optimal wellness.
As a certified POWCERT professional, wellness program managers will learn how to make a positive difference in the lives of their colleagues. Our innovative certification program integrates the latest research with tangible tools on how to build workplace cultures that engage, inspire healthy behavior, and promote lasting change.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
In addition to teaching, presenting to groups (small and large), and writing, I enjoy taking a project from concept to completion.
While it’s been a long, and sometimes winding, road it’s been (at least to me) smooth and I’ve been able to bring together an amazing team of instructors to assist me in delivering the certification programs. It’s like building a house–you need a strong foundation to build upon and that’s what we’ve done with our certification programs, from the material that we use, the original way it’s presented, to the flexibility of its purpose.
The instructors include: faculty from Columbia Business School; Harvard Ed Portal; EVP of First Region, Association of the United States Army (AUSA) and Co-marketing Chair for the MIT Chief Information Officers; Member of Board of Directors at SHRM Merrimack Valley; Member of Board of Directors at P.D Gladiators Parkinson Disease Atlanta, Georgia; Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner
I love what I’ve created with Aspire2 and POWCERT, especially in helping the men and women who are dedicated to creating wellness programs in their own workplaces.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with POWCERT: Professional Organization for Wellness Certification – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
At POWCERT we have an amazing team of trainers and support staff, each one dedicated to improving the lives of others through innovative teaching methods and their ability to translate the latest research into informative, fun, and engaging programs.
We offer 16-module certificate programs for participants who want to learn how to build, develop, and deliver a workplace wellness program, including those who are currently working as a wellness program manager.
In addition, our team has a broad range of expertise and experience that has enabled us to create a unique concierge service. This means that we can provide additional executive training and services tailored to the specific needs of companies and organizations that can be delivered in-house or at an off-site location.
Over the past eight years, I’m so grateful to have met many highly-talented individuals who have provided me with multiple opportunities including (since January 2018) being one of the instructors at Harvard Ed Portal in Alston.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
The future is exciting!
We’re currently developing an online course for 2019 to enable people outside of New England to participate in training for certification.
In addition, we’re building out our ongoing educational programs and concierge service, continuing to add fresh material and expand our certification course with leading-edge modules tailored to address specific wellness needs as new research and technology emerge.
As a life-long volunteer (from age 15) I am thoroughly enjoying volunteering on the annual conference committee of the Worksite Wellness Committee of MA and look forward to continuing to assist the WWCMA. (I’ve been volunteering with them from 2015 to present.)
At POWCERT we’re constantly seeking ways to create a healthier nation. What do you Aspire to do?
