Today we’d like to introduce you to Madeline Angelone.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Madeline. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have been a Hairstylist now for over 10 years! I graduated from Bay Payh Regional Vocational High School in 2005. To be honest with you Cosmetology wasn’t my first choice. I started doing Graphic Art Design but was second on the list for Cosmo. During the middle of my freshman year they asked me if I wanted to switch and I said yes. Best decision I made for myself. My Senior Year I got my license and starting working in a salon in Charlton during my shop week! It was the best experience I got! I learned so much about working in a Salon atmosphere. At the age of 19 I started working at D’Iorios. 12 years later and I’m still there. I have grown and learned so much working here. We are always continuing our education. My boss always pushes us to keep up with classes. This is great to me because the Trends are always changing!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road hasn’t been always easy but I love The Challenge. The hair trends are always changing, and to me that can sometimes be challenging! Here’s why; no matter what type of industry that you are in, you get into a routine! You do the same thing and get into the habit of doing that over and over again! So when a new color and or cut technique comes out you have to re-train your mind and or body, as well in my case my hands.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about D’Iorios Hair Salon – what should we know?
I have been at D’Iorios now for 12 years! I specialize in Colors, haircuts men too, blow-dry’s, perms and facial waxing! We are known for our huge walk-in service. Best way to start your clientele! Walk-in is huge part! D’Iorios has been in the business for over 60 years and to me that just amazing! We are truly a family! That is my second home!
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Definitely hardworking, and constantly learning! Having the motivation and the drive to always do better and push myself. I’m always asking questions. Taking advice from others with more experience in this industry as well.
