Today we’d like to introduce you to Lynn Holly.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Lynn. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started my hair journey in 2013 at Toni & Guy Academy in Worcester. It was a long 8 months between going to school 5 days a week and then right to work every night until 11 but I did it & I was sooo proud of myself! I originally started college in Boston for fashion merchandising but my passion had always been for hair.
My mother is a hairdresser and after seeing how hard she worked it really made me want to pursue a career in the industry. After cosmetology school, I continued to waitress & I started doing some light hair on the side. Pretty soon I had so many clients but for some reason, I couldn’t get myself to go apply to a salon, I was so nervous.
5 years later and I met Melissa, my boss, now and a very good friend. Her coworker and my best friend Danielle introduced us. Melissa was opening a salon & hired me right off the bat. She told me I would be fully booked in a year and she believed in me. Here I am a year later and booked 6 weeks out. Melissa really did change my life and I can’t even believe I’m here now doing what I love!
Has it been a smooth road?
When I first started doing hair full time in the salon I didn’t believe in myself. I would come to work so nervous and stressed thinking to myself, can I do this? It took a long time for me to build myself up and realize I COULD do it! I literally did hair for free just to get clients. I posted on social media every day and posted all my photos of hair I had been doing. I couldn’t believe how quick the clientele came and now I have the most amazing clients and new friends!

I definitely specialize in blondes. I love everything about hair but blonde just comes easily to me. Balayage is what I think I’m most known for and that Icey blonde! What sets me apart is I don’t overbook myself. I give the client my full attention & make sure they’re happy the whole time!
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I love our location, the people are amazing and it’s central so it’s very easy to travel too.
Starting out In Worcester for cosmetology school definitely made me well rounded and I would 100% recommend any new hairstylist to start here!
