Meet Luba Gankin of Primavera Dreams in Newton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Luba Gankin.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was born into a family of creative people who always kept an open house for family and friends.
From a young age, I participated in a wide variety of events which my mother organized, from concerts to camping trips and large group gatherings. When I became old enough, I began following in her footsteps; I organized many events in my high school, college and at my places of employment. I have always been especially fascinated by weddings and other events where people gather to celebrate love and life. These moments are extremely important for people and create lifelong memories and bonds. Being surrounded by loved ones is a gift.

Throughout decades of experience, I have developed strong logistical and interpersonal skills which are necessary for organizing successful events of any size and for all occasions.

I finally decided to convert my passion into a full-time job. I took many classes and became certified in international wedding and event planning, luxury wedding planning and in event design and décor.

Then, I founded my own event planning company: Primavera Dreams, which specializes in weddings and other celebratory private functions in the New England area, as well as in Italy.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
So far, it has indeed been a smooth road. Fortunately, I have not experienced any bad surprises, but it has been a lot of hard work. All of the work, however, is beyond worth it upon seeing a couple’s overwhelming joy when their special day turns out exactly how they dreamed it.

Please tell us about Primavera Dreams.
My company helps today’s busy couples and clients to organize their important events: weddings, bar/bat mitzvahs, milestone birthdays, and more.

My clients are usually occupied with work, travel and a plethora of other activities. Also, many live far from the location where their event will take place.

I help to organize everything from the very beginning to the very end, but I also offer each couple a fully customizable approach to their specific needs.

I am an avid traveler, and I speak a few languages, which helps greatly in my business. I am also an open-minded person, and I understand that cultures and traditions are different from person to person and that it is essential to accommodate their unique needs.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I had a happy childhood, and it is difficult to select just one episode. However, I would say that the most blissful moments were related to my large family gatherings at our summer house during school vacations. All of my relatives were still alive, and nothing can beat the feeling of being surrounded by love and feeling cherished by family and friends. In the morning, my brother, myself and my parents would bike to the forest to go wild strawberry picking. Then, my grandmothers cooked a delicious dinner, and all gathered in the evening around the table to talk and share a good laugh. Weddings provide an opportunity to unite families and friends, to create atmospheres full of love and joy, and I truly love them for that, I believe they belong to these kinds of memories to cherish among all the participants.
