Meet Lizzie Kantor and Phyllis Govoni of Wrentham Country Store in Wrentham

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lizzie Kantor and Phyllis Govoni.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
The Wrentham Country Store started as an old fashioned General Store selling penny candy and ice cream. The building itself started as a Garage! Over the years it has evolved into an Eclectic shop full of treasures. We carry vintage items as well as new décor for your home and garden, jewelry, paintings, upcycled items…we have it all with 25 talented and savvy dealers.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s so much fun to do what we do but it’s a lot of hard work and it’s very time consuming if you do it right. The upside of that is we do what we LOVE…how lucky are we!!!???

Wrentham Country Store Nickname The WCS – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
The Wrentham Country Store has been in business for 20 years or more. We are an established Home & Garden Decor business with 26 excellent dealers. We are open seven days a week 10 to 5 with the exception of major holidays. We don’t have one specialty. Our dealers are very unique as is our building. In one space you may find Primitives another Handpainted Artwork to Farmhouse Style décor. Some dealers have only Vintage Items. Several of our dealers teach classes so if you want to get the look and enjoy doing things for yourself, we have all the info for getting you there. We take great pride in our curated displays which can and do change daily. Our customers love to meander from one beautifully displayed booth to another searching for treasures.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
We define success with satisfied customers that come back to us again and again. They love the happy atmosphere, the charming setting and our super amazing dealers not to mention our awesome stuff!!! If you come in on a Saturday morning…there just possibly maybe a dance party going on! (Everyone in the shop works one shift a week…so our customers do get to know us…and we really get to know them!)
