Meet Lisa Bello

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Bello.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have been a singer since the age of 14. Before that I was too afraid to sing. My father and brother had these incredibly soulful voices and I feared that mine wouldn’t come close to theirs. At my first talent show I quickly learned that I was wrong.

Since that day I have graced thousands of stages. The stage is where I fully embrace who I am. It is a sanctuary for my gifts wherein people are forced to see me and listen. It is the place I feel most at home.

Has it been a smooth road?
There have been many obstacles that I have had to face like most creatives do. As a woman, a mother and as an artist in general I have had to deal with some heavy things that changed the path of my career.

In 2012 my dear friend whom I called brother, Demeko, passed away very suddenly and threw our worlds for a spin. He was not only my family but he was my drummer. He was the backbone to the music. I contemplated giving up music because it hurt every time I had to get on stage with a different person that was not him.

The following year my son was born and I believe that Demeko had a hand in blessing me with this unbelievable being that I gave birth to. So in his name I continue to work on my dreams so as to not let his memory die in vain.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Lisa Bello – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am a vocalist. I am a performer. I am an artist. I am also an activist. Bring a lot of heart to every stage that I encounter. I really don’t know any other way to perform but to give everything I have.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
What I like best about Boston is that there are “nooks” of tight knit artist crews that support each other in every aspect of their lives. They stand together and it is evident in their output and their light that they spread.

What I dislike is that the outside doesn’t get to see how ill these groups of artists really are. We often get the bad light shed on us as a city, that we don’t “support each other”. When in essence, WE DO. Often the media likes to portray it differently. Big ups to Bia, Dutch, Millyz, Term etc. that are in the big spotlight and continue to remind people that Boston is their foundation.
