Meet Lisa Bean of Evolve Salon Systems

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Bean.

Lisa, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My journey in the beauty industry started when I was 22. I went to college for social work but decided that was not what I really wanted to do. I was way too sensitive for it and was worried I would never find my passion. My father thought sales was perfect for me as I always seemed to get my way. Lol. I thought if I have to sell something it sure had to be something that I loved and could feel proud of.

That’s when I applied to be an outside sales consultant for a professional beauty distributor. When I started, I just walked into salons and tried to sell them as much as I could as I wanted to meet my sales quotas. I soon found that was not the way to success. I read a lot of books and took a lot of classes. Really as many as I could get my way into and I decided to be the “unpaid” salon employee.

Instead of selling, I became a resource to help my salons grow their businesses. I found I had a knack for teaching product classes that were fun and for helping my salons with marketing plans. This led me to tremendous success. By shifting to the “servant” mindset, the sales followed. The stylists trusted me and knew I always had their best interest at heart. I was really proud to be a three-time President’s Club winner in my tiny Vermont territory, and I won numerous industry awards.

Then the next part of my journey came with Evolve Salon Systems. A wonderful meeting with one of the owners Gerry Hamel led me to my Brand Advisor position that I am in today. I credit Gerry with believing in me and pushing me to new levels. I am so fortunate to travel and meet the most amazing salon and industry professionals. I also found a love for social media and teaching stylists how to use Instagram and Facebook for success. I teach academy classes all over and am always blown away by the amazing participants that join me.

I am so grateful for all of the opportunities that have been given to me and that I have paved the way for. My greatest joy is my family. I am a proud wife and mama to three amazing kiddos ages 17, 15 and 10. Life is certainly a balancing act and some days can be pretty hectic. My latest project is a podcast called Salon Success Lisa. I am always looking for new topics to share with my audience.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
A smooth road all the time would be boring I think. There have definitely been some hiccups. For a while, I became a little stagnant and wasn’t following my heart. That meeting with Gerry Hamel changed my life. I found a home where my core values matched that of my company.

Gerry and his business partner Craig Michaud gave me the courage to do things I never thought I could. Like speaking in rooms of over 50 people, writing my own curriculum and trusting that I would do it well. So the funniest and not so fun day was when I was teaching a technology class, and all of my technology failed. I realized that day that no matter what I was going to be ok and teach a great class.

Please tell us about Evolve Salon Systems.
I work for Evolve Salon Systems, and we are here to “Make A Difference” in the lives of salon owners and stylists. Our goal is to help everyone achieve their goals and dreams. We aren’t just amazing products (but we do have those).

We are your business consultant and friend on this journey. I am so proud of the core values we have as a company to partner with brands that have the best interests of the stylists and salons. We are different in the way as we are not just a transaction but your business partner.

I am personally known for being the brand advisor for Eufora International here at Evolve and also our Social Media expert. I teach academy seminars specifically for stylists and salon owners.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would hope not take everything so personally. I was always worried if everyone liked me.
