Today we’d like to introduce you to Linsey Wakefield.
Linsey, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My passion for taking photos began after I became a mother to my children Ava & Brody. Shortly after my son turned 3, my husband had bought me my first DSLR camera. It had so many features and I had no idea how to even use it! I began watching videos on YouTube and looking up articles on pinterest to help me learn all of the features of my new camera! A few months later in late September 2014, a friend of mine had asked me if I would be interested in taking her daughters photos at a local park so I agreed and off we went! Throughout that year I would obsess about photos all day long so I continued to teach myself how to use my camera in manual mode and how to edit in Lightroom & Photoshop. My business became official in October 2015 and I worked on location or at my home where my studio was in my tiny dining room! In March 2017 I found the perfect studio space to make the new home of Linsey Wakefield Photography. I’m very grateful for the opportunity to be able to capture so many memories that my clients can treasure forever!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road certainly hasn’t always been a smooth one. Starting your own your own business takes a lot of time and dedication to be successful. When I first started my photography business up until recently, I still worked a part time job on top of being a wife and mother to my 2 young children who have very busy schedules. I’ve spent countless hours behind the camera and the computer away from my family to learn and grow my business. I have learned to multi task very well between family, business and my personal life and it has become much more efficient!
Please tell us about Linsey Wakefield Photography.
I specialize in Maternity, Newborn & Children’s Photography. Most of my clients refer to me as the “Baby Whisperer”. Because I have a gentle and patient approach with all of my clients. I’m very personable and down to earth which makes my clients feel very comfortable upon entering my studio and helps the sessions go smoothly because let’s face it, it can be very intimidating being the client on the other side of the camera! I truly love working with so many families, a lot of them have become not only my clients but my friends too!
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
One of the biggest lessons that I’ve learned is if you want something done the right way, do it yourself.
