Meet Leslie Pearlson of BplusBoston and Vetted in North End

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leslie Pearlson.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Leslie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Almost five years ago, the major parenting center in Boston closed down. I found myself with a newborn and no resources, so I started researching what Boston had to offer. I found myself compiling the information into an email that I kept sending to friends who were becoming new parents. After so many emails, I finally decided to compile it into a website, BplusBoston.com.

Next came the blog, which is all about what it means to be a “B+ parent”. Today there seems to be a lot of resources to be that perfect parent, but I find that it’s usually not worth the energy you need to spend to get that “Pinterest perfect” life. So I wanted to be a voice to let others know that it’s okay to be B+ in whatever you’re doing.

And finally, came the Vetted piece, which is my Amazon-based research group for parenting gear. There are so many options out there, I wanted to create a community for parents to ask questions about “what’s the best stroller/cup/bib etc” to help them build their registries and buy things as their kids get older.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The best advice I ever received was to treat the first launch of my website as “version 1.0”. I’m sure Apple would have loved to start with the iPhone X but everyone has to start somewhere. So, I kept telling myself I just needed to start trying things to see what worked. And every time I would fail, I’d learn something new.

BplusBoston and Vetted – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I think I’m known as being pretty honest about how hard parenting is, but I try to bring a lot of humor to it as well.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Anytime a new mom emails me about how an article has helped her out, or helped her realize that the “newborn fog” won’t last forever, that means the world to me.
