Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Hastings.
Laura, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I began my career at a small data company that had a strong entrepreneurial spirit. With millions of data points at my fingertips, I found the idea of creating big-picture solutions from minute, seemingly insignificant details both invigorating and exciting. I quickly fell in love with my work and the process of transforming data into actionable opportunities and insight. My passion for data eventually led me to roles where I not only continued with product development, but I was able to broaden my horizon and get involved with defining a strategy for product development.
As luck would have it, one of PrescribeWellness’ founding members co-founded the first company I worked at, and through him, I not only learned about PrescribeWellness but about their very unique and very special mission: to improve patient health outcomes through data. I was thrilled to join the PW team and pledged to use my expertise and experience in data and technology to help bring the company goals to life.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Both the technology and pharmacy industries are constantly – and rapidly – evolving, which means my job never ceases to be challenging! That said, the constant challenge is one of the best and most rewarding parts of the job. Whether a new health standard is defined or the pharmacist community takes on a new role, PrescribeWellness has to adapt in order to find new, relevant and enhanced solutions for improving patient care.
Each day, we try to stay ahead of the curve which means the job is always fast-paced and demanding, but the dividends paid are always in healthier lives. I feel incredibly fortunate to work with such an amazing team of dedicated and passionate people, who strive to deliver leading technology each and every day in the name of improved care.

PrescribeWellness relies on big data to develop innovative technological solutions that empower community pharmacies to provide personalized service in an effort to develop, strengthen and sustain meaningful patient relationships. The deepening of the patient-pharmacist relationship is crucial, because it directly leads to improved health outcomes, and also, pharmacy profitability.
Much like the retail sector in general, the pharmacy industry finds itself in the midst of a major paradigm shift, one that has caused filling prescriptions to no longer be a sustainable business model on its own. However, by implementing PW’s unique and revolutionary “#BeyondTheFill” model, community pharmacies are able to expand their role and move from a fill-centric to a patient-centric approach, which ensures that they not only survive but thrive, all while taking better care of the patients in their community.
That is our business in a big, oversimplified nutshell, and when you can be a part of a company that plays a major role in meaningfully impacting and improving the health of millions of patients every day, it is impossible to not be proud the work.
