Meet Krisztina Perron of The Wooden Spoon Catering Company in Amesbury

Today we’d like to introduce you to Krisztina Perron.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Krisztina. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Both of my parents came to America from Budapest, Hungary. My entire family worked in the food industry while I was growing up. I always had an interest in cooking, so I took every opportunity to learn from them. I graduated from the Culinary Arts program at Whittier Regional Technical High School and then later received my degree in Culinary Arts from Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI. I worked in hotels and country clubs to gain experience before opening The Wooden Spoon Catering Company in 2013. We cater many types of events, but found our niche in catering local farm weddings. I am in the process of getting my Massachusetts state vocational teaching license with dual certification in Culinary Arts and Hospitality. I would be honored to share my knowledge and experience with the next generation of future chefs. I also teach international cooking classes at Kitchen Local in Amesbury, MA and at Stonewall Kitchen Cooking School in York, Maine.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
One of the obstacles I faced when starting the business was finding a professional kitchen space to run my business out of. Luckily, I learned about Kitchen Local, a shared use commercial kitchen in Amesbury, MA. That was the perfect solution to keep operating costs lower than opening my own space and the other businesses operating out of there have been a great source of referrals, support, advice and friendships!

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We specialize in full service outdoor farm weddings and farm to table weddings. We have built relationships with local farms and local artisans and love sharing what this area has to offer. We are very proud to be named couples’ choice award winners by weddingwire.com in 2017 and 2018.
