Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin Green.
Justin has been a top agent & innovator in the Boston real estate industry for the last 17 years. In 2005 he was recognized in Boston Magazine’s Power Broker issue as a top-10 agent in Boston, at the age of only 25. Justin lead the market in Dorchester as the area’s #1 agent from 2000-2010*
He founded In Realty in 2006 to innovate & explore new ways to do more for clients. In Realty was the 1st agency to offer in-house staging, wide-angle professional photography, & free design/construction consultation company-wide.
Justin works with his team on each sale or project with a hands-on approach, not only overseeing but directly handling many of the most important details for every client.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
As much as one might try, nothing is ever perfect. The period around and following the down market of 2009/2010 offered challenges and struggles to overcome. With listings not selling, and buyers scarce in the market, I had to find ways to diversify and earn steady income. But since I never sit still and always try to look forward, I put my idle hands to work in 2009 when I purchased a small condo to renovate and resell. I managed the whole project and did most of the finish work myself. It was a big success when it sold and I invested the profit back into the company. Then, to find steady income over the next few tough years that followed, I built a mid-sized property management business at In Realty within which I managed as many as 75 units at one time. I knew that once the market turned around many of those managed properties would become sales. And it was true. Almost all of the properties we managed were sold, and now we are back focused squarely on where our talents best lie: brokerage.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
More and better service – It’s what we do at In Realty. What does this mean? It means everything. It’s how we go forward in every action we take. We don’t just sell houses – we help each of our clients discover hidden value in the home they are selling or buying to maximize their return.
Want to sell? Then we won’t just bring you best-in-class marketing. We’ll also help decide what improvements to make, pick a color scheme, and coordinate the fix-ups that will bring the best price.
Want to buy? We won’t just show you houses. We’ll help find the diamond in the rough that just needs a few tweaks to bring you instant equity. We even carry tools with us just in case we need to look behind that panel or inside that crawl space. Get in, get more.
What were you like growing up?
They used to call me “little man” when I was 10 years old. They did that because I was inquisitive and would have conversations with adults as if I were an adult too. If I was interested in something, I tried to find out all that I could and taught myself how to do it. I have always worked. Starting at the age of 9 I had a large paper route. Then, when I was 12, one of my paper customers who happened to be a real estate attorney asked me to mow his lawn and handle some chores around the house. This blossomed into a small landscaping business with 10 steady customers that I had until I was 18. At the same time, at the age of 15, that same real estate lawyer asked me to not only help with the chores, but to come into his office and work alongside his paralegal. For the next 3 years I worked in that office. And when the paralegal retired a year into my service, I took over for her, handling everything from filing, customer service, letter writing, and billing. I’d always been proficient with computers and this experience helped me to grow that skill. When I graduated high school I went to work for a tech company for a bit, then for a small book publishing company, working in web and customer service. At 20 I decided to take a real estate class with my then roommate and my career found its way from there.
