Meet Joe Reardon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joe Reardon.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I got my start in photography in the early 70’s when Dad won a 35 mm camera in a poker game a local tavern in Brighton Ctr. After I saw my first prints I was hooked. I wound up as a US Navy Photographers Mate after a tour in Vietnam. While in the Navy I had the privilege of photographing Potus on a couple of occasions as well as Sec of Navy, Chief f Naval Operations, numerous members of our congress and senate as well as POW Admiral Jeremiah Denton. I followed up my Navy Training with a formal education at New England School of Photography.

My corporate job afforded me to travel the world many times over and my camera was always with me.

These days, I am represented by the Copley Society of Art, Rockport Art Association, Plymouth Art Association, South Shore Art Association, NH Art Association and Southern NH Art I am active with running photo workshops around New England and the USA as well as providing online content for Topaz Labs of Dallas TX.

Please tell us about your art.
I feel driven to capture the visual expression of what I perceive to be meaningful about the natural environment through photography. I create photographs of nature so that viewers might recall an earlier, more care-free period in life when they had more time to “stop and smell the roses” – and recognize the importance of saving time now, to invest in nature again. My goal is to create a visual that reawakens a viewer’s memory of the child-like wonder and awe inspired from his/her initial experiences within natural environments – to evoke a sense of seeing and feeling the same things for the first time, again.

Do you have any advice for other artists? Any lessons you wished you learned earlier?
There are no shortcuts in the Art World as in life. Hard work and dedication to your craft are always the key ingredients to success.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
