Meet Jimmy Duong of New England Wellness Solutions in Hanover

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jimmy Duong.

Jimmy, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was born in Vietnam. At the age of 1, my family and I fled our home country due to the oppression of the Post Vietnam War era. We settled here in Massachusetts. My great-grand father was a highly regarded barefoot doctor in central Vietnam who treated many patients with numerous diseases well into his 80’s. I’m on a mission to bridge the gap between four generations of Oriental medicine.

I am a Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine licensed acupuncturist, licensed massage therapist, certified Polarity therapist, Reiki master and teacher and a student of life! I am the founder and Chief Clinician of New England Wellness Solutions of Hanover and Norwell specializing in Pain Management. I am an active Friends of South Shore Hospital member, have served on the board of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Society of Massachusetts, and am a member of Acupuncturists without Borders.

After completing a dual Bachelor’s degree at Northeastern University, I went on to secure two degrees from New England School of Acupuncture (now NESA at MCPHS); A Masters in Acupuncture and a Masters of Oriental Medicine. I currently reside on the South Shore of Boston with his wife and three children

Has it been a smooth road?
When is it ever smooth sailing in the life of an Entrepreneur? If being in business was smooth sailing, I think everyone and their fourth cousin would do it. I think it takes a special set of personality traits that allow for the long challenging road ahead. Most entrepreneurs, like myself, enjoy the challenge. We don’t settle for mediocrity because simply put, it’s a boring state to be in.

Oh man, which struggle should I begin with? Is it the one where I don’t pay myself for a year to make Payroll for the rest of the company? Or the part where I spend 120 hours a week for four years straight outside of the house and not with my family? The phase where I had to decide whether or not to keep the doors open or close the business down and move on? How about almost losing my wife because I am constantly working all the time? The honest truth is; despite the enormous challenges, I have learned to out grown them all and it has made me so much of a better clinician, business leader, husband, and father. I look forward to the many more challenges to come. And to that I say, when life gives you acupuncture needles – Make lots and lots of pin cushions!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with New England Wellness Solutions – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Our mission here at New England Wellness Solutions is simple; making better health easy for those in need. We are composed of a diverse team of individuals who are filled with passion and dedication for helping others. Our popularity and success stems from the trust we have built with our clients over the many years of always putting them first before profits.

We specialize in acupuncture and massage, focusing mainly on pain management. We remain committed to the philosophy of quality over quantity. We strive to renew the way healthcare is delivered. Not only do we treat the root cause of patient’s health issues, we educate them and provide them with tools to prevent a relapse of the same problems. What sets us apart from others is that we educate our clinicians on a regular basis so that they are able to provide patients with the best possible treatment. Our goal is to help patients improve their overall health and wellbeing so that ultimately they will no longer need our care.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the diversity. Boston is a livid city with plenty to do and see. It captures the beauty of nature throughout the city, not just with the Boston Commons and Boston Garden. With its large college population, you can always be sure that there will be an event in Boston catered to you. Boston is a city that adapts with the modern times while also preserving the history that America holds dear to its heart.

The traffic is the worst part. Going to and from the city is a pain in the neck. Even driving through Boston is difficult as it is riddled with winding roads and one way streets.
