Today we’d like to introduce you to Jill Donahue.
Jill, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
While working in business management for over a decade, I was often approached for strategic advice from colleagues. I decided it was time to pursue my long-term goal of starting my own business and the concept of JD Consulting was the result.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
As an entrepreneur, time-management can always be challenging. You need to be self-motivated and driven to be successful. My favorite work related quote is: “Hard Work beats talent, when talent doesn’t work hard.”

JD Consulting combines public relations, marketing, advertising, and events to achieve overall strategic brand management for clients. My daily agenda varies depending on current client projects. During the day, I could be building a website, creating social media content, working on an e-mail marketing campaign, designing an ad campaign, sending a press release, shooting footage for video marketing, pitching an idea to a media outlet, or attending a seminar. At night, I could be at a magazine issue launch party, attending a charity gala, going to a networking event, or running a client event. The variety of responsibilities associated with public relations, marketing, advertising, and events keep my days varied and exciting!
What do you like to do when you’re not working?
When I get the opportunity, I love to travel. I’ve been visiting Stowe, VT for almost forty years and it’s one of my go-to New England destinations. I’ve always wanted to visit Paris, France but haven’t had the time yet!
